Osteoarthritis

It is the most common form of arthritis. It occurs due to the breakdown of joint cartilage and the underlying bone. Osteoarthritis commonly affects the hands, feet, spine, and the large weight bearing joints such as the hips and knees. It  is often referred to as ‘wear and tear’ of the joints.  You are more likely to have this condition if you are older in age.  You can develop osteoarthritis earlier after a traumatic injury to a joint or if you are overweight. Usually people with osteoarthritis may experience joint pain, joint swelling, decreased range of motion and joint stiffness in the mornings and usually eases after 30 minutes.
